Fine Furniture - Syracuse Past and Present

John Widdicomb was born in Syracuse in 1845. In the late 1800s, there were a number of furniture factories in the area, and Syracuse became home to several of the Stickley brothers, who were soon to move to the forefront of the Arts and Crafts movement in the early 1900s. All of upstate New York has a rich history of making fine furniture - Rochester, in fact, was home to one of the oldest Arts & Crafts Societies in America.

When shopping for furniture, Syracuse residents have been able to visit a Stickley showroom since at least the 1930s, when the L. & J.G. Stickley factory had a showroom on site. The Stickley, Audi & Co. showroom currently occupies 80,000 square feet in the Towne Center Plaza in Fayetteville. This flagship showroom has a significant selection of Stickley products, as well as many samples from other quality manufacturers.
