Harvey Ellis Desk (#472)
and Deck (#473)

This week, Sotheby’s will auction one of these writing desks manufactured by Stickley in 1903. They are estimating a sales price of up to $200,000. (For Sotheby's catalog click here.)
The very same design—an utterly unique shoe-foot construction with stunning art-nouveau inlays of copper, walnut, cherry, and maple—is still handcrafted by Stickley in our upstate New York workshop. The desk and deck are fashioned out of solid quartersawn white oak, beautifully finished in your choice of colors. The deck features nine cubbies behind its doors, plus six small drawers. The desk has three drawers. All pulls are bronze. In one respect, this piece is actually improved from the vintage version—all drawers are now side-hung and center-guided, an engineering advance Stickley instituted in the 1940s that produces flawless performance and even better durability than the 107-year-old originals. This piece is an American icon that will thrill for a lifetime, and only appreciate in value. Note that desk and deck are not attached, and that the desk may be purchased alone. Desk: H30½ W42 D24 / Deck: H10 W31 D8
Suggested retail price: Desk: $3,101 /
Desk + Deck: $5,709
